About
We work alongside developers, owners, architects, and designers to identify creative opportunities and assemble the right resources to bring them to life.
Depending on the needs of the project, Artefact may lead the work directly or connect clients with specialists from our vetted network of artists, curators, galleries, and cultural partners. This flexible model allows us to build around the vision of each project, providing a single connection point from creative discovery through execution.
Artefact Spaces is a creative and curatorial steward of the built environment. We excavate the hidden narratives of place and give them form through art, visual storytelling, and cultural programming; transforming the built environment into modern artefacts designed to endure.
ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Aaron Monu founded Artefact Spaces after years of working alongside developers, architects, designers, artists, and other visionaries shaping the built environment. His work is rooted in a belief that the spaces we create should do more than function; they should tell stories, accurately reflect culture, and create moments that endure.
Through art, cultural programming, creative partnerships, and visual storytelling, Aaron has helped shape environments and experiences that invite people to gather, discover, and connect. His approach draws from the cultural nuances and hidden narratives of place, using them as a foundation for experiences that feel both relevant to the present and worthy of being remembered.
Prior to founding Artefact Spaces, Aaron worked as a curatorial connector for a large-scale art consulting firm, helping deliver projects across multifamily, hospitality, workplace, mixed-use, public art, and civic environments. His project experience includes but is not limited to The Juniper & The Reserve in Atlanta, Gateway Jax in Jacksonville, Modera Fort Lee in New Jersey, and Alta Mile High in Denver to name a few. His work also extends into private residential, where he has partnered with real estate firms and brokers on art staging and continued working with clients after closing to curate artwork for their new homes.
Beyond the built environment, Aaron has served as a creative director and cultural strategist across hospitality, art, fashion, and experiential projects. His work has encompassed creative direction, cultural activations, partnerships, content, and digital storytelling for projects and brands including Select Few Dinner Club, Atlanta Art Week, Billy Reid, and Musika Frère.
As a practicing artist and photographer himself, Aaron brings an intimate understanding of the creative process to his work with clients and collaborators. He is a strong believer in introducing diversity to any space or operation, and that perspective, combined with his experience in the built environment, allows him to move fluidly between artists, creative partners, designers, and decision-makers. This leads helps him assemble the people and ideas needed to transform physical places into modern artefacts.
